com-mute - from Frieze to Art Licks

5th October 2018

I'll be taking part in Art Licks Weekend festival this weekend, with AltMFA. This years theme is Peripheries, and sits in contrast/opposition/position to the current Frieze Art Fair. I'm collaborating with US-based artist Marion Tu, for our piece com-mute. Meet me at 1pm Saturday 6th October outside the entrance to Regent's Park underground station, and I'll take you away from the area of the fair on a collective walk through the medium of a tube journey. The destination is our AltMFA show at Fill The Gap gallery, Leytonstone. More info here.

Tapping Into The City at Royal Geographical Society Annual Conference

6th June 2018

I'm pleased to announce that my next scheduled Tapping Into The City walk will be part of the Royal Geographical Society's annual conference in August! I'll be there with the Participatory Geographies Research Group, who aim to promote the use of participatory approaches, methods, tools & principles within academic geography & beyond. Glad to be venturing into non-art platforms, as well as getting the opportunity to learn a bit more on the geographical and academic side of things. Very exciting. Info on my event here.

Guest Projects Anniversary Celebrations

24th May 2018

I'm very happy to be part of Guest Projects' 10 year anniversary celebrations this weekend. Guest Projects was set up by Yinka Shonibare to give those of all artistic disciplines the opportunity to have access to free project space to be able to freely develop their practice, it's a great initiative and has been very supportive over the years. There are events over the entire weekend, I'll be with AltMFA from 2-6pm this Saturday, more info here. We'll be chatting and eating - making lunch for all and talking alternative education, plus there'll be clay workshops and tea. Facebook event page here. Come join us!

This Might Be The Future

7th March 2018

Event tomorrow! Over the last year AltMFA have been exploring the theme of The Future - researching and reacting through a core programme of invited artists and speakers made possible thanks to funding from a-n. Join us tomorrow Thursday 8th March from 6-9pm for a celebration and sharing of this past year of looking at the future, featuring printed and live incarnations of what we've learned so far / creative responses to our guest speakers, plus food, drink and partying! I'll be performing a spoken word piece at 7pm. Full info here.

Art Licks events this weekend + radio thanks!

29th September 2017

An art-packed few days coming up this weekend with AltMFA all as part of Art Licks Weekend.

On Saturday we'll be down on the beach by the Thames in Rotherhithe, for a workshop-style gathering exploring how we can create and interact with each other in this unpredictable environment. Come join us, and bring a problem with you that you'd like to find a solution to! Info here.

As part of the event, I'll be cross-continentally uniting with Marion Tu again to try out some performative walking experimentation. My On The Rocks will meet Marion's Leaving No Stone Unturned...

On The Rocks

The ones that stuck out.

walking... scouring and scoring... the beach... fragments of thoughts... ideas... pointers... lives...

                                                                      unite

gathering together and dispersing, releasing, exposing

notebooks through the years... inscribing the water... into the landscape... transience on permanence... and back again.

Leaving No Stone Unturned

Marion will be walking simultaneously in the streets of Atlanta, GA, USA. Marion is a long-distance member of AltMFA. During the walk, she will be looking for ways to fill the gaps of her absence. She will share photos, words and telepathic thoughts with the audience in an attempt at conjuring the curse of never being there.

On Sunday we've been invited to join School Of The Damned for their First 100% Official Unofficial Alternative Education Open-Day. We're on at 1.30pm and will be making a strange salad to explain and collectively transcribe the recipe for an alternative art school!

And finally, just a little thanks to one of my favourite radio presenters, Cerys Matthews, for giving a shout out for my last Tapping Into The City event and the rest of Sound Walk Sunday on her 6music show!
